Homer Area Community Foundation Scholarships (https://homeracf.org/)

 

Each individual scholarship has its own criteria and essay requirements. However, each scholarship must also include the Homer Area Community Foundation General Scholarship Application and 2 letters of recommendation.  All of the Homer Area Community Foundation Scholarships are completed through the Battle Creek Area Community Foundation website with one application found HERE (https://homeracf.org/)

 Raymond R. Amsler Scholarship - Award is given to a Homer High School graduate with a potential to succeed in a college curriculum.  Financial need, character, and volunteer involvement will also be considered. 

Barton Farm Co. Scholarship - Award is given to a Homer High School graduate that demonstrates financial need and plans to pursue a vocational degree, community college degree, or four year university/college degree. 

Elizabeth Booth Scholarship - Award is given to a Homer High School graduate pursuing a college degree or trade school training. 

Calhoun County Swine Club Scholarship – Award given to outstanding students in Calhoun County who have shown determination, and who have demonstrated leadership abilities in their club, community, country and world.  Scholarship is based on livestock participation, leadership, and citizenship. Applicants must be a member of the Calhoun County Swine Club, may not be older than 19 years of age as of January 1st of the current year, and must have been enrolled as a Calhoun County youth Swine exhibitor at the time of application for this scholarship.  Applicants must be either a senior in high school of a high school graduate continuing their education at an accredited institution in the year in which they are applying.  Previous recipients are not eligible.

Crandall Family Scholarship - Award is given to a Homer High School graduate with a financial need, strong academic performance and involvement in the community, who exhibit strong character.

Curry Family Scholarship – Award is given to Homer Community Schools graduating seniors and graduates who are planning to pursue undergraduate studies through a 2-year or 4-year college, university, technical or trade school in a medical, dental, or mental health-related field. Funds may be used for expenses incidental to attaining educational objectives, including, but not limited to: tuition, fees, books, computers, housing, testing, transportation, child care, etc.

Phil Duff Memorial Scholarship - Award is given to a graduating student from Homer Community Schools based on scholarship, merit, and community participation.  Preference will be given to students pursuing a degree in the field of education or children’s services.

Robert & Doris Folk Scholarship - Award is given to a Homer High School graduate that plans to attend a 4-year Michigan Public State University.  Recipients of this scholarship should demonstrate financial need, leadership skills, community involvement, and academic performance.  Applicants cannot be a relative of the Folk Family.

Kathy Hickerson-Mills Scholarship - Award is given to a Homer Community Schools graduating senior pursuing postsecondary educational opportunities, including apprenticeship and certificate programs, at Kellogg Community College, who is NOT in the top 10 of graduating seniors. Funds may be used for expenses incidental to attaining educational objectives, including, but not limited to: tuition, fees, books, housing, testing, transportation, or childcare.

Homer Academic Booster Club Scholarship – Award is given to graduates or graduating seniors from the Homer area who seek educational opportunities beyond high school. Applicants should demonstrate potential to succeed in college curriculum to be pursued. Financial need, character, and volunteer involvement will also be considered.

Homer Alumni Association Scholarship – Award is given to Homer Community Schools graduating seniors and graduates who seek postsecondary educational opportunities. Funds may be used for expenses incidental to attaining educational objectives, including, but not limited to: tuition, fees, books, housing, testing, transportation, or child care.

Homer FFA Alumni Scholarship Fund - Award is given to a Homer High School graduate and participant in the Homer FFA for one or more of their high school years.  This scholarship is available for alumni.

Homer Area Community Foundation Scholarship - Award is given to a Homer High School graduate based on potential to succeed in a college curriculum, character, and community commitment. 

Harry and Linda Lucyshyn Memorial Scholarship - Award is given to a Homer High School graduating senior or graduate of Homer High School pursuing an undergraduate or advanced degree with the intention to go into veterinary medicine (including veterinary assistants, technicians, etc.) or audiology career fields.

James & Lucille Miller Memorial Scholarship – Award is given to Homer Community Schools graduating seniors and adult students who are employed or live in Homer, Michigan, who are pursuing studies through a 2-year or 4-year college, university, technical or trade school in a manufacturing field.  Manufacturing fields shall include, but are not limited to: engineering, Computer Numerical Control Technology, machine maintenance, supply chain management, welding, tool and die, machine operation, electrician, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning), plumbing, etc.

Betty Petredean Scholarship for the Arts - Award is given to a Homer High School graduate or alumnus that is pursuing a degree in the arts.  Citizenship, leadership skills, community service, and the scholarship essay will also be taken into consideration. 

George & Betty Petredean Scholarship - Award is given to a Homer High School graduate that exhibits strong academic performance, leadership skills, and community involvement. Extra consideration is given to family members or descendants of past or present employees or Calhoun Foundry and Trojan Heat Treat.

SLF/Blair Scholarship Fund - Award is given to a graduating student from Homer Community Schools with a commitment to successfully furthering his/her education beyond high school.  Student should exhibit solid character, a commitment to community service and philanthropy, and financial need.

Bessie L. Smith Scholarship Fund - Award is given to a Homer High School graduate based on scholarship, merit, and community participation. 

Kay Earline Vanderford Nursing Scholarship - Award is given to a graduating student in the greater Homer area that is entering the field of nursing.
