...from the heart
Definition of Love: an intense feeling of deep affection.
2020...New Opportunities, New Dreams, New Goals, New Memories and New Adventures!!!
I love this place!!! (Semester 2)
As I sit back and reflect on the first semester of our 2019-2020 school year, I can’t help but smile at all of the positive and uplifting things that are happening daily in our school district and in our community.
There is no question that we have some of the most dedicated, caring, selfless, loving and supportive people working in our school district and residing in our proud community.
We are HOMER!!!
Homer is Home is so much more than a simple tag line on the back of a t-shirt or three words carefully painted on our village water tower.
You see, words without action, are empty and lack true meaning.
Homer is Home means so much more...it’s a lifestyle...simply put, it’s a way of life, it’s the way we treat our neighbor, it’s the way we take care of our children and it’s the way we love and support all of those around us.
It’s community members reaching out to help their neighbors and friends, a fire and police department protecting and serving the entire community, a faculty and staff that love their students 24/7/365, a barber shop where you enter to get a haircut and exit with stories and a relationship, restaurants that provide you with so much more than a delicious meal, a library that can answer virtually every single question you may ever have, a community that loves their children unconditionally, people that selflessly give up their time with family to move our district and community forward, businesses that emotionally and financially support our students and an alumni that bleeds orange and black.
Go Orange Go Black!!!
It’s the type of love that inspires me to not only embrace all of our good moments, but to also push through our difficult and challenging times.
It’s the type of love that motivates me daily to celebrate and recognize excellence within our school and our community, and the type of love that drives me to improve the areas that fall short of our high expectations.
Each morning, I start my day walking the school hallways visiting with students, teachers and staff members. I can assure you, without hesitation, that...Excellence is all around us!!!
I see our operations team preparing each of our buildings for the day, making sure that everything is safe and ready to go.
I see our food service team welcoming our staff and students with a delicious breakfast and an infectious smile.
I see our teachers warmly greeting each of their students, building positive relationships and preparing their classroom lessons and activities for the day.
I see our building administrators in the hallway shaking hands with students and staff and making sure the day starts out positively for everyone.
I see our administrative assistants politely answering morning phone calls, greeting students and parents and welcoming our new families and visitors.
I see our bus drivers safely transporting each of their students from their homes to the front doors of our school.
I see our crossing guards helping our students safely cross busy streets and providing each of them with a warm morning smile.
I see our support staff collaborating with classroom teachers and assisting our students.
I see our school nurse providing just the right dose of medicine, ice and unconditional love.
I see our media center/technology staff ensuring that each student and staff member is equipped with the materials and devices needed to be successful.
I see our school board committed to provide the very best educational experience possible for our entire district.
I see our students enter a safe and caring environment with smiles on their faces, ready for a full day of learning.
I see our parents dropping off their students with complete confidence that our staff will continue to provide their children with a safe, caring and loving environment.
I see our community that unconditionally supports our school. A community that loves their kids and believes wholeheartedly in our school.
A Tradition of Excellence!!!
I can assure you that our good moments outnumber our challenging moments a million to one.
I can assure you that we will never lose focus of the million positive things that separate us from everyone else.
I can also assure you that I (we) will do everything possible to ensure that our areas of growth are identified, addressed and improved. Our kids deserve our very best!!!
I truly believe that our best days are yet ahead of us. I’m ready for a great second semester!!!
Let’s work together to make 2020 our best year yet!!!
So the next time you meet someone and they ask you where you are from, where you live, what school you graduated from, where you work, what school your kids attend, what team you play for, what club/organization you are a part of, etc...look them squarely in the eye and say with a firm and confident voice that you are from HOMER!!!
On behalf of the board of education, faculty and staff, I would like to wish each one of you a happy and healthy New Year!!!
I love this place!!!
Who’s with me in 2020???
