DUE TO THE COVID-19 closure of all school buildings in the State of Michigan, all scholarship applicants need to mail completed scholarship applications to:

There will be NO Homer Alumni Association Social and NO Honors Assembly.
The Homer Alumni Association is proud to offer the following scholarships to current graduating seniors and alumnus of Homer High School. Please complete this application and mark which scholarships for which you would like to be considered. The application is due April 30th to the HHS Counseling Office. Homer alumnus can send applications to Mary Bates, 24417 J Drive South, Homer, MI 49245 by April 30th. Graduating senior recipients must attend the Honors Assembly in May of each year.

- Dewayne Ballentine Scholarship - To qualify for this scholarship, students must be current graduating seniors and alumnus. The amount of the scholarship varies from year to year. Dewayne Ballentine was a Homer graduate and founding father of the Homer Alumni Association. He served as a board member and started the annual banquet. This scholarship was set up in his memory in 1985. The amount of award varies from year to year
- Curry Family Scholarship - To qualify for this scholarship, students must be current graduating seniors and/or alumnus, with first preference given to students pursuing a career in the medical, dental, or mental health fields. The amount of the scholarship is $500.The Curry Family Scholarship was first established in 2017. This scholarship honors Dr. R.K. Curry, M.D. (1905-1987) and Dr. R. Bruce Curry, DDS ’62 (1944-2004). Dr. R.K. Curry served the Homer community as a family physicians and surgeon from 1933 to 1973 and served in WWII between 1942-1945. He and wife, Winnifred, also served on the school board for years when one of their four children; Charles, Carolyn, Bruce, or David were in Homer Schools. He also provided free physicals for any athlete desiring to participate in Homer Community Schools athletics. Dr. R. Bruce Curry was a 1966 graduate of the U of M School of Dentistry. He married Janice Camburn (’63) and opened a dental practice in Eaton Rapids after serving as an Army dentist, including a tour in Vietnam. Together they raised two sons, William and Scott. Bruce also served on the Eaton County Hospital Board during critical hospital financial times. Bruce passed away after a short illness.
- Kathy Hickerson-Mills Scholarship - To qualify for this scholarship, a graduating HHS student must plan to attend Kellogg Community College and must NOT rank in the top 10 of graduating seniors. The amount of the scholarship varies. The Kathy Hickerson-Mills Scholarship Fund was established by her family after her death in 2010. Kathy was a long-time employee in the Homer Community School System. Kathy’s attitude and presence added to the learning environment for the student body and staff at HHS, and for that she will always be remembered. This special scholarship was first given in 2011. The Board of Directors of the Alumni Association is honored to have been asked to govern this scholarship.
- Class of 1959 Scholarship - To qualify for this scholarship, student must be a graduating HHS senior or alumnus seeking post-secondary education. The amount of the scholarship is $300. The Class of 1959 Scholarship began in 2019 by class members and friends, in honor of their 60th anniversary to recognize Homer Community Schools for providing them a quality education. The scholarship is administered by the Homer Alumni Association.
