HMS November Activity is Movie Night

On Monday, November 12, 2018, we will be traveling to Hillsdale to attend The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. The cost for this trip is $12.00 per student, which includes the price of admission, snack, drink and transportation. This opportunity is available to the first 100 students to sign up next week. Permission slips were handed out to students on Thursday, November 1, 2018. See the flyer below for more information. Remember, students must have a C's or better to attend the trip.

Homer Community Schools invites you to create a long-lasting memory to honor and recognize current and former students, community members, faculty and staff, family, friends, neighbors, local businesses and other school stakeholders.

You can do this by participating in our Alumni Plaza Brick Project (located at flagpole at main entrance). We encourage everyone who loves Homer to participate!!!

Online Free & Reduced Lunch Application

Get a jump start on all of the required forms for the beginning of the school year by completing the free and reduced lunch form for the 2018-19 school year.  We strongly encourage all of our families to complete and return the form.  In many instances, families that didn't think that they would qualify, actually do!  This form can be completed on paper and returned to the school, or you can click on the link below for a fast and easy online application.  Please take a few minutes and complete this important form!

Club '18 - The Greatest Show will be Saturday, April 28, 2018.  The show will begin at 7:30 pm with doors opening at 7 pm.  Tables cost $25 and this includes 5 tickets for admission.  Tables must be reserved in advance. Click HERE to reserve table seating.  Bleacher seats are available at the door for $3 each.

High School Winter Sports Banquet

The High School Winter Sports Banquet is Sunday, March 25, 2018 at 4:30 pm.The banquet is catered by Tina Tucker and the Kitchen Staff. The price is $5.00 per person/$20.00 per family. Dinner tickets MUST be purchased in the high school office NO LATER than Friday, March 16, 2018. Dinner tickets will not be sold after March 16, 2018.

Athletic Update for 2-15-18

Athletics Update-

MS Girls Basketball practices have been cancelled for today! 7th Grade will practice at 3pm Friday and 8th Grade will practice at 3:30pm Friday. 8th Grade will have an optional practice on Sunday from 12:30-2pm.

MS Wrestling Big 8 Meet is still on tonight starting at 4pm. All 8 schools will be attending! Wrestlers please arrive at 2:45pm per Coach Woodring. Bus will depart the school at 3pm.

Varsity Girls Basketball will practice from 1-2:30pm

Varsity Comp Cheer will practice at 1:30pm today with tumbling to follow!

Wrestling will practice at 2:30pm today!

Varsity Boys Basketball will practice at 5pm this evening!

JV Basketball games at Union City tonight will take place as scheduled with a 5:30pm start time! Bus leaves at 4:15pm

Order your 2018 Yearbook now! The cost is $50.  You can order online by clicking HERE.

Purchase a Senior Dedication Ad to honor your 2018 graduating senior. Ads cost $25 for a business card-sized space. Any picture or text can be included. Parents can purchase more than one box if you wish to include more text or pictures.

 

Advertising your business in the yearbook is a great way to get your business out there, also a great way to support Homer Schools. You can contact Mrs. Thomas at pthomas@homerschools.net to place your yearbook order or if advertising, you can also order on line at yearbookforever.com. There is a small service fee for ordering online.

Call-Out Concerns

It has been brought to our attention that for certain phone service providers, the call-out program is making repeat phone calls with no message.  We are working with our call-out service to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.  In the meantime, if you would like to receive text messages instead of phone calls, please contact your student's building secretary.  Thank you for your understanding.

Updated Athletic Cancellations and Rescheduled Events

The Middle School Boys Basketball Tournament has been cancelled for this evening. It has been rescheduled for Saturday, December 16, 2017. Further information will be sent home when it becomes available.

 

There is a voluntary MS Boys Basketball shoot around today after school from 3:00-4:00 pm.

 

The Middle School Wrestling Tournament has been cancelled for this evening. It has been rescheduled for January 31, 2018.

 

HS - JV/Varsity Girls Basketball Practice will be 3:00-4:00 pm.

HS - JV/Varsity Boys Basketball Practice will be 4:00-5:00 pm

 

There will be no Young Guns wrestling practice this evening.

 

Men's Rec has also been cancelled for this evening.

Parents and other caregivers of a school-aged child now can easily find answers to these questions and many more through one user-friendly online tool. Michigan’s new Parent Dashboard for School Transparency (or “Parent Dashboard”) makes it easier for parents to see many types of information about any public school in Michigan, including public school academies (charter schools).

The new dashboard is designed especially for parents and other caregivers. It will report on more than 20 different factors—or measures—that parents and other stakeholders have said are important to them when evaluating the quality of a school. Families and others can use the dashboard to get a more complete picture of how their child’s school is serving students. They also can use the dashboard to compare a school’s performance with the average performance of other similar Michigan schools.

Lady Trojans Summer Basketball Camp

All girls Grades K-8 are invited to a basketball camp on August 6-9, 2018 from 9 am to noon.  Instruction and coaching will be provided by Girls Varsity Basketball Coach, John Williams,basketball and the Lady Trojan players.  Every camper will receive their own basketball!  Cost is $40 or $35 for siblings.

Summer Lunch Program

Homer Community Schools is pleased to once again offer lunches Monday - Friday, from June 18 - August 10, 2018.  There will be NO Summer Food Service Program July 4-6. Cost is FREE for children birth through 18 and $2 for adults.

Lunch is served at the following sites:

Homer Public Library (cold lunch site)

Food is served from 11:30 am - 12:00 pm at the Main Entrance

Homer Community Schools (hot lunch site)

Food is served from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm - in the cafeteria, please enter through the North Parking Lot Main Entrance

PA 75 and 3% Healthcare Contribution Refunds

Former Homer Community School employees working for the District between July 2010 and September 2012 may be entitled to a refund of healthcare contributions withheld from wages during this time period.  Former employees should send their current contact information, including mailing address, and Form W-4 to Julie Waterbury, Director of Business Services, jwaterbury@homerschools.net

The federal Form W-4 may be found here: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw4.pdf and the state Form W-4 is located here: http://www.michigan.gov/documents/taxes/MI-W4_370050_7.pdf

All refunds will be subject to federal, state and FICA/Medicare tax withholding.  Refunds will be processed as soon as reasonably possible once the funds are received from the State of Michigan.
